May 10th, 2021. New Series: Stories we tell Ourselves

Psychology and art plays a major role in my artwork. I believe that personality is shaped by several elements, not often simple to understand. These elements are genetics and environmental (family upbringing, education, culture, events during our lifetime, etc.). But it is the stories that we repeat to ourselves about these elements that keeps them alive in our personality and makes us unique. 
During the events following lockdown because of Covid 19, I found myself making more and more figurative painting. My friend and fellow artist commented that it was because of the isolation we went through that I wanted someone to talk to. I think I did as I often found myself talking to and talking through my painting. This led to a new series that has been developing ever since: Stories we tell ourselves.
